Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies (MACAA) Announces Change in Leadership
Stephanie Kulas to Take Over as Executive Director; Michael Gaines to Transition to Outreach Coordinator
Hannibal, MO — January 14, 2025 — The Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies (MACAA) is pleased to announce a change in leadership with Stephanie Kulas stepping into the role of Executive Director. Kulas will succeed Michael Gaines, who will transition into a new role as Outreach Coordinator. This leadership shift marks an exciting new chapter for MACAA as the organization continues its vital work supporting community arts agencies across the state.
Gaines has served as Executive Director since 2005, during which time he has played a pivotal role in driving the agency’s mission forward, expanding its services, and strengthening community partnerships. In his new role as Outreach Coordinator, Gaines will continue to engage and foster relationships with member agencies and provide technical assistance in a wide variety of organizational and programming areas.
“I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished during my 19 years as Executive Director, and I’m excited to transition to a role where I can still be involved in the arts statewide and continue to make a positive impact,” said Gaines. “Stephanie is a natural leader, and I’m confident that MACAA will thrive under her direction.”
Kulas brings 8 years of experience in nonprofit management and community service. Having worked in various leadership roles, Kulas has a strong passion for empowering arts administrators and providing networking opportunities for organizations of all sizes. She is excited to build upon MACAA’s strong foundation and to continue to advance MACAA’s mission.
“I’m thrilled to be stepping into the role of Executive Director and honored to continue the important work that MACAA does,” said Stephanie Kulas. “I look forward to working with community arts agencies throughout Missouri and creating a stronger network.”
The transition of leadership took effect on January 1, 2025. MACAA board members are excited about the future and the continued positive impact MACAA will have under Kulas’ leadership.
